Murals, illustration, and lots of other fun stuff like organizing this Galentine Box! Everything I make is in a hand-drawn style that embraces color, positivity, & JOY:)
As full time as it gets, pretty much life consuming (mostly in a good way)
Paint, Joy, Creativity
Its January right now, so the biggest fight is to leave my comfy nest of a bed and actually start my day. I work from home along with my husband and several furry pets. My days are filled with moving projects along, fulfilling orders from my online shop, planning for upcoming markets or events, & working on custom jobs (like a painting for a family or packaging illustrations for a small business) for nice people that email me. I have a whiteboard and big planner to keep me organized on daily tasks, but mostly just ignore these in favor of writing on random slips of paper that end up lost on my desk somewhere…the struggle is real. I know most people don’t share this sentiment but I truly LOVE working 10 feet away from my husband. We mostly take our lunch breaks at the same time & end the evening with a walk together (along with our dog Valentine).
Look at my website….what do you think? (it’s pink….all the pink)
You should really stop being so afraid of Photoshop. (also same thing but with spreadsheets)
My car. I like to eat lunch, talk on the phone, get work done, take a nap—-its like an office on wheels.
“You’re the Cajun Lisa Frank”
I’ve been drawing since I can remember & even went to college to learn more about art but I owe a lot of my business to the humble bath bomb. After UL graduation, I still had zero experience in marketing myself & skillset. It was totally nerve-wracking to consider trying to sell some of my art. So I didnt, lol. But I did start a small bath bomb business right as they began to grow in popularity. I had fun designing the labels, doing product photography, having a booth at local events, wholesaling to stores—-just all of it. So I slowly added in art and eventually removed the bath bombs and the rest is history.
Getting to connect with people through creativity (somebody pinch me)
Well you know there’s the usual: being my own advocate, negotiating for fair pay, time management, facing daily rejection. But a big one is just making time & space for dreaming ahead. This can be a very nose to the grind, project to project type of lifestyle and if you don’t watch it…years can go by without you realizing where you’ve steered your ship. For me, I always want to think ahead and set goals so I know what projects to say yes or no to in that season in order to stay on track.
